Support Groups, Other Services & Ways To Keep Involved

Beechwood Cancer Care Centre hosts a range of Support Groups and services to help you stay in touch with Beechwood and to assist you in making new friends and keeping involved.

CARER SUPPORT

Has your loved one recently been diagnosed with cancer?  Beechwood have developed a Carer Support Session aimed to help you cope during this difficult time.

BACK TO WORK PROGRAMME

A short 5 week course run in the afternoons, offering informal support and ideas to boost confidence following cancer treatments and helping you prepare for the return to work.
Please ask your Nurse for further information or referral, or contact Eileen Skeen or Sue Shtewi at the Centre.

SHED CLUB

The Shed Club meets on the last Tuesday of each month at 10.30am.  Drop in and join the meeting and once you're up and running you may wish to come and garden on other days.

CRAFT GROUP

Why not join our Craft Group?  A support group interested in crafts and creative card making, meet fortnightly to support each other and make cards which they sell to raise funds.

FRIENDS & FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP

A group open to anyone touched by cancer.  Meets alternate Friday mornings from 10am  - midday for tea, coffee and a chat.

ART GROUP

Draw and Paint at Beechwood
Every Fortnight – Thursday afternoons
Come and join our group of enthusiasts Draw and paint in watercolours
Ask at reception for details of dates.

 BEANIES

A support group for anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis or who've  ‘Been’ Patients or Carers on Beechwood Programmes.
First Friday of every month 1-3.00pm. 

YOGA

Are you looking to support your wellbeing?  Beechwood will be running 6 week courses for anyone affected by cancer starting in January 2017.  The continuous practice of yoga helps the body and mind in a holistic way and this supportive class will enable you to create emotional stability and clarity of mind.

BEECHWOOD CHOIR 

Love to sing?  Then why not join the Beechwood Choir  - for those who  have been affected by cancer in one way or another.  Come along and enjoy singing with others.  Your very welcome - whatever voice you have.  The group meets every Tuesday evening.

MINDFUL MEDITATION

 A short 5 week course run in the afternoons.  To discover and practice mindfulness meditation techniques focusing on senses, body, breath and loving kindness.  Teaches to acknowledge yourself in a kindly and non-judgemental way, shows the richness of life right now as it happens, and brings mental, emotional and physiological benefits.  Once learned can be used almost anywhere.  Please ask your Nurse for further information or referral, or contact Liz at the Centre.

PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP

Don't Bury Your Head In the Sand Like Ossie Ostrich

This group offers advice and support to anyone, partner of carer of those affected by this increasingly common form of male cancer.  Meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month 6pm-7pm at the Centre.    
 

TAI CHI

Gentle exercise and stress relief adapted to be safe for people with health problems
Every Wednesday 2pm – 3pm

BEREAVEMENT GROUP MEETINGS

An open accessible group for the bereaved.  Meetings are held on 1st Tuesday of the month 5pm-7pm and the 3rd Wednesday afternoon of the month 2.30pm-4.30pm.  Attendance is flexible and a relaxed supportive environment.  Support within the group is understanding and empathic.  The group sometimes has evenings out.
