When there is serious illness or a bereavement in the family, children and young people tell us that they feel most supported by adults who are understanding of how they might be feeling and behaving, are able to support without judging, and who have the knowledge and skills to help.

We would be pleased to help you further develop your understanding in this area by providing:

informal telephone support where you may be concerned about a child, young person, or family

multi-disciplinary training days, e.g.

  • 'Supporting Children and Families'
  • 'Supporting Young People and Families'
  • 'Puppets, Masks, Stories, Art & Other Creative Activities'

INSET days for a whole school staff

Some comments from our training days:

"Very informative and thought-provoking"

"A very useful opportunity to discuss bereavement in an open and honest forum. As a teacher of 10 years, I have never received any training on this"

"I feel more confident to talk to parents/children about various situations"

"Very useful – made me more aware of the wider issues of loss/bereavement"

"A very useful day, with lots of good ideas to use in the classroom"

"Very informative – addressed my personal needs as well as those pertinent to my profession"

"A wonderful and valuable experience that will help me in working with families who may be struggling"
