The Lord Lieutenant of Manchester, Warren J Smith JP DL, has very graciously agreed to become Patron of Beechwood Cancer Care Centre and he issued the following statement to the Chairman of Beechwood, Tony Wilson:

“It is a great honour to have been asked to become Patron of the Beechwood Cancer Care Centre and I am looking forward to becoming more involved in your work in the time ahead.

Cancer is an insidious disease that affects all of us at one level or another, whether as patients or relatives and I have been very impressed with the range of work and support that is offered to so many individuals and families throughout our region by the staff and volunteers at Beechwood.

Though a patron of the Centre, I also see my role as that of a volunteer and will do all I can as an individual and as Lord Lieutenant, to promote the work of the Centre and to stimulate support wherever possible.”
