ABC Level 2 Award in Counselling Concepts 2019

There are no specific requirements but you need to be able to produce work up to GSCE standard. We are able to consider candidates of 19 years or over. The course will run subject to minimum numbers being reached.
This course is for those who wish to return to study, seek a career change, undertake voluntary work, enhance career prospects through extra qualifications or train as professional counsellors.
This is a ten week course which runs each Monday (Bank holidays excluded)
Three mandatory units:
- Therapeutic models of counselling, ethical frameworks and helping relationships
- Effective communication skills
- How to reflect on personal development and identify areas for future development
The ABC Level 2 Award in Counselling Concepts provides an introduction to counselling and may be of interest to you if:
- You would like a realistic understanding of the nature of counselling training
- You would like to enhance and improved your verbal and communication skills
- You would like to experience working in groups of different sizes
- You would like to enhance your career prospects through extra qualifications
- You are undertaking voluntary work
- You are seeking a career change
- You are returning to study
- You would like to enhance your self-awareness and personal development
Applications are invited by anyone interested in embarking on an initial course in counselling. Applications must be supported by an impartial reference prior to the commencement of training.
The course is externally validated by ABC Awards and offers a 5 credit award at level 2 (GCSE academic level) qualification.
The programme is delivered by experienced and qualified counselling practitioners who have many years’ teaching experience. You will be required to complete a written workbook to evidence your learning whilst on the course. Course work will be set each week, either written work or research. Students are encouraged to keep a personal journal and your tutor will offer advice and guidance in relation to all subjects taught on the course.
The programme takes place at the Beechwood Centre (formerly known as Beechwood Cancer Care Centre), in our dedicated and comfortable training suite.
Successful completion of this course will provide you with one of the entrance requirements for the ABC Certificate in Counselling Skills Level 3.
Please note that progression from the Level 2 programme onto the Level 3 programme is not automatic. You are advised to check with your tutors regarding selection procedures which may require further evidence of your suitability to progress to Level 3.
The course fee for the 2017-2018 academic year is £240.
The tuition fee includes the ABC Awards assessment and official ABC certificate.
Full fees will be due at enrolment.
